Recognizing and Managing Radically Polarizing Public Discourse: Ethics and practical dilemmas
On January 20, 2020 a major debate in Skopje was held on the topic “Recognizing and Managing Radically Polarizing Public Discourse: Ethics and practical dilemmas. “The main speakers were the journalists Katarina Sinadinovska, Ljupco Popovski, Bobi Hristov and Goran Momirovski, the CSO representatives – Denis Sulejman, Ana Blazheva and Gordan Georgiev. The other participants were from the small non-parliamentary parties, CSOs, media and diplomatic missions in Skopje. They opposed their different views about the problem of depolarization and the role of media in framing the decency of the discourse.
The debate was part of the project “Toward depolarization of public discourse in North Macedonia: Dialogue between the opposing political poles is the pre-requisite of surpassing the populist model of governance”, funded by the National Endowment for Democracy.
